Very large blue faience amulet of the lionness goddess Sekhmet, wearing solar headdress and long gown, left hand clasping a sceptre to her breast, right hand pendant at her side, suspension hole through headdress. 2" (5 cm). Ancient Egypt. Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC. Huge inscribed faience amulet of Sekhmet, the lionness-headed goddess. Depicted striding, on integral base, wearing a solar headdress. Egypt, 2nd Intermediate Period, c. 1750 - 1570 BC. Huge steatite scaraboid. The back rounded with notched border and collars around the suspension holes. Base engraved with the god Ra kneeling on the back of a crocodile and holding a sceptre, erect cobras to either side. 30 x 23 mm (1 1/8" long!) Minor chipping to one collar. Ex-J.
