Ancient Egypt. 3rd Intermediate Period, c. 1075-664 BC. Nice faience Djed Pillar / Column of Osiris amulet. Nicely detailed with light seafoam-blue color, intact. H: 19mm (3/4"). Holed-through laterally for suspension. Ex Rilling collection, Orange County, CA. #AE3134: $275

Ancient Egypt. Ptolemaic period, c. 332-30 BC. Neat blue faience "tooth" amulet. Scholastically debated as to the purpose of these amulets in ancient Egypt, they've been referred to as "tooth" amulets as dental problems were a major issue at the time and they perhaps were used as offerings intended to relieve dental pain, whereas other scholars attribute them to be heavily stylized depictions of the dwarf god Bes. Either way, this is a wonderful example with lovely seafoam-blue color. H: 14 mm. Ex New York City collection. #AE3049: $150 SOLD

Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, c. 664-535 BC. Wonderful carnelian Djed amulet. Exquisitely carved with beautiful detail. Dark blood-red color (darker than photo appears). Without a suspension hole this would have been wrapped within the folds of the bandages of a mummy. H: 18mm (11/16"). Ex-John Rilling collection, Orange County, CA. Mr. Rilling died in 2008, stopped collecting in the 1990’s. Mr. Rilling selected the items for his collection carefully, acquiring them bit by bit from major auction houses in the US and the UK. #AE3133: $399

Ancient Egypt. Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC. Egyptian Red Crown amulet deaccessioned from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The Red Crown represents Lower Egypt (the Delta region). 21 mm, intact with nice green color, earthen deposits.

Old Kingdom Egypt! c. 2686-2160 BC. An extremely early and rare green faience stamp seal, of pyramidal form. The enigmatic impression not deciphered. Ex Jonathan Rosen collection; ex Royal Athena Gallery, New York (Royal Athena ID # RA877_1). 9x8mm, blue-green color. Very rare! Ptolemaic Egypt, c. 323-30 BC. Nice small faience amulet of Pataikos, the dwarf god. Classic, blocky style with angular features. Incredible vibrant blue-green color. I will abstain from writing a detailed anatomical report on this one, but the pictures speak for themselves.
