Ancient Egypt. Ptolemaic, c. 332-30 BC. Lovely small faience amulet of Anubis, depicted as a seated dog with a collar. Dark blue color with details in yellow. H: 12 mm (1/2"). Ptolemaic Egypt, c. 323-30 BC. Faience amulet of Anubis, the jackal-god. Fragmentary, from the shoulders up, but with decent eyes and facial detail. Dark green color, damage to nose and ear. Spot of glue on base where it was once attached to a base. H: 18 mm (3/4"). ex-Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Hamilton Carr collection, purchased on a trip to Cairo in 1967-1968. Not without charm! Ancient Egypt. Ptolemaic, c. 332 – 30 BC. Beautiful faience amulet of the Sothic Dog, shown standing on integral base with tail curled overhead. Ancient Egypt. New Kingdom, 18th-19th Dynasty, c. 1570-1185 BC. Excellent steatite scaraboid amulet. One side depicts a central Kheper (scarab beetle) between 2 feathers, the other with two worshippers adoring an obelisk. A protection charm! 17 mm (5/8"), beautiful deep-cut detail.
