Ancient Hittite bronze stamp-seal, c. 1700-1500 BC.
Fantastic tri-lobed design with etched floral design of swirls and dots on base. The shaft of the piece has multiple etched-ring "grips" and the elongated top is holed-through for wearing. This was a personal seal, or signet (as in "signature") so it makes sense that the owner would keep it close to the heart. Nice olive-green patina with some original earthen encrustation. Measures 28 mm (1 1/8") tall. ref: Van der Osten, Collection Hans Von Aulock, p. 138, 86-88 for similar type. A great piece!. #6051: $299
Ancient Near Eastern, c. 2nd Millenium BC
Lovely bronze stamp-seal. Base is carved with a bearded figure enthroned, facing left. He is holding a bird in his outstretched hand, and another animal is below. Nice reddish-brown patina, some wear from use in antiquity. Top is holed-through for wearing. 23 mm (7'8"0 tall. Neat piece! Unfortunately a horrible, wshed-out photo. #6043: $225
