Ancient Resource: Ancient Roman Hoard Coins for Sale
An excellent hoard of silvered-bronze follis of Licinius I, Emperor of Rome 311-324 AD. Contemporaneous with Constantine I the Great of Rome. These are magnificent examples, perfectly preserved in a clay jar, all found together. The coins depict: Laureate head of the Emperor facing right, IMP LIC LICINIVS P F AVG / Jupiter standing left, holding winged Victory upon a globe in one hand and a scepter in the other. An eagle with a wreath in its beak sits at his feet, IOVI CONSERVATORI. The coins average about 28 mm (7/8 inch) diameter. Large, striking Roman coins!
