MASSIVE papyrus panel with Coptic or hieratic script, from Egypt, c. 5th-7th Century AD, composed of various strips of attached together. Often old documents and such were recycled and used in the production of cartonnage masks and other similar objects. This could account for the patchwork of written strips. An interesting item and scarce as any inscribed papyrus is hard to come by. 4 7/8" x 3 3/4" (12.4 x 9.5 cm). Ex East Coast collection. #mar1591: $550 SOLD

Magnificent framed papyrus fragment with Greek cursive script, Egypt, c. 7th - 8th Century AD. A nice example showing 6 line of script written with an even hand.
